Picture of Chris Ford interning at CNN in Washington, DC in 2009. As an intern at CNN Washington, I had an intimate view of cable news through participation in field production, studio production, interviews, working on the assignment desk and video editing. Working on the White House and Homeland Security beats I was able to attend a White House Press Briefing and an official function in the White House East Room, take photos on the National Mall during President Obama's first Inauguration, and take part in interviews with former Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff and former White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card, among others. Through my experience I was able to ascertain the knowledge and skill necessary for working in cable news and to be offered a job at CNN Washington, where I still work.
