Pictured here is what may be a group of Elon students between the years of 1906 and 1910. The entire group consists of 30 males except for a baby on the front row. They are all posing for the picture on the front porch of a house, numbered 22. The location of the house is unknown. This may be a photo of the Clio or Philologian societies, the two male literary societies at Elon. Leon Edgar Smith ’10 is seated on the far left, second row up from the bottom of the postcard. He is the only one seated in this area wearing eye glasses. Smith graduated from Elon in 1910, with an A.B. degree and served as a Christian minister in North Carolina and Virginia. He became a college trustee in 1927 and was president of Elon College from 1931 to 1957.
