This video is titled “Just Sustainabilities” by Julian Agyeman, held in the LaRose Digital Theater, Koury Business Center, on February 24, 2015. Julian Agyeman discusses the concept and practice of “just sustainabilities.” Dr. Agyeman argues that environmental quality and human equality are inextricably interrelated: whenever environmental degradation happens it is usually related to equity, social justice, and human rights issues. As Agyeman defines in his lecture, “the need to ensure a better quality of life for all on the globe, now and into the future, in a just and equitable manner, whilst living within the limits of supporting ecosystems...”. Agyeman states, “He wants change.” Agyeman is an author (Sharing Cities: A Case for Truly Smart and Sustainable Cities) and Professor of Urban and Environmental Policy & Planning at Tufts University. This lecture was sponsored by the Office of Sustainability and Center for Race, Ethnicity, and Diversity Education.
