This video titled, "North Carolina " Campus Compact @Elon, Elon Academy," demonstrated Elon Academy high school students in various Elon classes. For example, students were dissecting the brain in a biology class. Leo Lambert discussed why the Elon Academy was created at Elon University with the six Alamance County high schools. Deborah Long, first Director of the Elon Academy, discussed how she watched a golf class. The Watson Scholarship was talked about by a student, Tyler West. Lambert stated, the Elon Academy, Watson"s Scholars, and S.M.A.R.T (Student Mentors Advising Rising Talent) mentors all make a huge difference in a student"s academic future." The Elon Academy is a non-profit college access and success program for academically promising high school students in Alamance County with a financial need and/or no family history of college. The Academy includes three consecutive summer residential experiences prior to the sophomore, junior, and senior years, as well as year-round Saturday programs for students and families. The summer after high school graduation, scholars and families participate in the Elon Academy Transition to College Program. Once on their respective college campuses, Elon Academy graduates and families are provided with continuing support through the Elon Academy College Success Program to ensure college completion. Although the Elon Academy was launched by Elon University, the program is not funded through tuition dollars. The sustainability of the Academy is dependent on the generosity of individuals, businesses, and foundations. This aim of the institution is to help deserving students in making it to the Elon University Watson Scholarship program that is offered to senior high school students who are graduating each academic school year. The education in this school will help the student transform to become a better citizen of the United States and help the world. The scholarship program is designed to help the student in their education if the student is in financial need. The student can choose to join this scholarship program if they want to pursue their dreams and make themselves successful. S.M.A.R.T mentors are comprised of faculty and students who advocate for the younger students. Some names included: Darian Jackson, Destinee Lewis, Ashley Meares, Marci Smallwood, Meggan Thompson, Renee Gilmer, and George (Smith) Jackson.
