This video titled, "Elon Magazine," was recorded on March 11, 1993 with the ground breaking of the student center (known as the Moseley Center in 2016). The unknown host of Elon Magazine introduced the ground breaking ceremony events for the campus center to be completed in 18 to 20 months. The new campus center replaced the Long Campus Center which was built in 1966 with a student enrollment of 1,200 people. In 1989, there were more than 3,000 students attending Elon College. The new campus center will be a 74 thousand square foot building. This will be the central location for student life. The new center included: space for student organizations, a dining facility, the campus book store, mail services, a lounge with a fireplace, multi-purpose meeting areas, and an auditorium. The cost will be 6.2 million dollars which was financed through tax exempt bonds sold in February of 1992. The Elon"s Emanon Jazz Band played during the ceremony. A large crowd stood listening to the Emanons. Jennifer Banks sung with the Emanons Jazz Band. Thomas (Tom) Erderman directed the Emanons Jazz Band. Chaplain McBride provided the prayer of the day. J. Fred Young spoke of the new campus center. Dr. Wallace L. Chandler (Elon Class of 1949 and Chair of the Board of Trustee) spoke on the behalf of the Board of Trustees. The student body president, Mack (unknown last name) spoke of this new campus facility. A video shot of the shovels for the ground breaking stood along a fence. Ronald (Ron) Klepcyk and others proceeded to do the first ground breaking. There were shots of shovels reading "Elon." More people broke ground for the center with close-up shots of the dirt. A sign read " "Sign your name for History." Aerials of people shoving dirt as the ground breaking for the campus center.
