This video titled, "Touchdown Phoenix Football," was video recorded in Studio B, School of Communications on October 21, 2001. The Touchdown Phoenix Football show was hosted by Trip Durham, Assistant Athletics Director at Elon University. Durham narrated an opening with the Elon University"s Phoenix Football players getting off a bus, entering Hofstra"s stadium, and Elon Football players walking onto the stadium. Durham stated, "These are interesting times if you are a part of the Elon Phoenix Football program. As a student athlete, you must deal with the disappointment of only winning one game in the first six games. You must understand yourself as you deal with the challenges of moving forward. As a student you have come in contact with a city of New York. You must understand playing football with your emotions. You must confront your fears. And you must stand with other students as you become stronger Americans. Indeed, these are interesting times, if you are part of this Elon Football team. We will explore the thoughts of the staff as they visited the New York City area this past weekend. And the result of physical play between Elon and the Hofstra pride (in the Hofstra Stadium). We will discuss this topic on "Touchdown Phoenix Football." The show began with the traditional "Touchdown Phoenix Football" video opening. Trip Durham interviewed Elon"s Football Head Coach, Al Seagraves. Elon lost to Hofstra, 42 to 21. Durham and Seagraves discussed the positives of the game. In addition, Durham and Seagraves discussed the tragic occurrence of September 11, 2001 (this event occurred weeks earlier). There was a student video reporter package of the game between Elon vs. Hofstra. Also, there are replays of the Elon and Hofstra game. Seagraves discussed the "Bullet Points" of the game in New York. The Elon Football "Player Profile" focused on Calvin"s Docier. An Elon video played as a commercial break that was titled, "Who Are We." The Elon "Scholar Athlete of the Week" was Mason Oatey. The close of the show include shots of Rhodes Stadium, the football field, the stands, a Rhodes Stadium plaque with the Rhodes family history, the scoreboard, the Alan White tower, entrance into the football stands, and the football field.
