This edited video piece titled, “Luminaries: Festival of Holiday Lights,” was recorded by University Communications in December of 2013. Elon’s Luminaries is a tradition of Elon. The Festival of Holiday Lights is sponsored by the Truitt Center for Religious and Spiritual Life (in 2017 Numen Lumen). Lights adorned Alamance building, the Moseley Center and 29 trees surrounding Young Commons, and Scott Plaza. The Elon community came together in the heart of campus with several hundred students, professors, staff, and families and enjoyed hot chocolate and cider, carolers dressed in Victorian Era attire and students sang holiday selections. Students from Hillel lit candles on a Menorah as a symbol of the Jewish holiday, Hanukkah. Students sang Hanukkah holiday songs. Some names included: Liz Vozella, Class of 2013, Janet Fuller, Elon University Chaplain, Melissa Jordan, Associate Director, Multicultural Center, and Stephen Futrell, Associate Professor of Music.
