This video, titled George Troxler book signing: From a Grove of Oaks, The Story of ELON University, occurred in Isabella Cannon Room, Center of the Arts, Elon University, and at the Barnes and Noble book store, Elon, North Carolina on March 12, 2014. The book signing was held for the book written by Troxler in celebration of Elon University’s 125th Anniversary. The book contained over 400 plus photographs that told the story of Elon College and Elon University. Troxler stated, The book was a vignettes of Elon’s history. Troxler’s wish was that readers would find a photograph or knowledge that they were seeing or reading for the first time of a college that survived and transformed itself. Troxler signed books. An unknown voice said to Troxler, This is your 15 minutes. Troxler responded, That is right. Troxler stated, My favorite photograph was the panoramic photo of (Elon’s) campus in November of 1920. It is a 180 degree photograph that shows the railroad station at one end and Carlton House at the other end. This is another Elon that we do not know. We had not seen that photograph until we found it in a box of over-sized photographs. We are an Elon family. And one of the unique things about Elon is the sense of family between staff, students, faculty, and alumni. We all work together to make it happen. I have a lot of friends on campus that I have not seen in a couple of years now. I look forward to seeing them. Video shots seen included: unwrapping of a book, pulling a book out from a stack, and signing a book with Troxler’s left hand.
