This video titled, Leo Lambert: Introduction to the Board of Trustees, was held in McKinnon Hall, Moseley Center in 1998. In the beginning of the video, Dr. J. Lambert received a standing ovation. 00:10:49 Lambert walked to the podium with a huge smile on his face. Lambert spoke at the podium. His comments included: a thank you to Allen for the welcome statement; Lambert expressed his feeling on being selected as Elon’s 8th president; Lambert fondly described a conversation he had with Allen E. Gant Jr., from a week ago; Lambert shared his feeling that Elon College was a perfect fit and feels very special and very bright; Lambert quoted his favorite line in “Simple Gifts;” Lambert shared his family’s feeling that Elon College had become a gift; Lambert experienced a sense of humbleness about the trust Board of Trustees had placed in him; 00:13:20 Lambert thanked the audience for the confidence they had in him; and a final expression from Lambert, Thank you. People applauded Lambert’s speech. Lambert sat next to Nan Perkins. LaRose spoke of the search of the 8th Elon College President. LaRose reminded the Board of Trustees of the 1:30pm press conference.
