This video, titled An Interview with Laith al-Majali, Class of 2005, spoke in the edit rooms of the School of Communications in 2005. He stated on how he would look back at Elon, this is where I started my journey. Elon is going to be where my roots are. The experience that I have had, whether it be with faculty, staff, or colleagues-students, are going to be ever remembered. The networks that I have done through Elon – the opportunities, the internships that without my connections here would have never been possible. The nice thing about it is that Elon has been able to support me. Even if I had projects that I wanted to take cameras to Jordan with or just taking them to Los Angles to do some short films. If I had an idea, Elon Television, the School of Communications, and Elon as a whole never said no to it. That is very rare from institutions that lead with film and TV production. Elon has given me creative freedom. And I have been able to give back a lot to the university, and hopefully in the upcoming years. And hopefully if I am successful, I will be able to give more – be it coming here or giving gifts. Elon will be where my heart will be. Over the last four years, I have been an active member of the School of Communications. And through the School of Communications, I was able to get a lot of experience and opportunities that are setting me up, hopefully, for success. Over the last four years, I have participated in six internships, have professional credits in TV production, and I am currently negotiating a deal for a screen play. In addition, I have worked a lot with students on campus. My work is not just for myself, but I have assisted J McMerty (a staff member) with his APPLE Certified Training of Final Cut Pro. I live in the edit labs and I have been able to help students in the past three years. The reason why I am a good candidate for receiving the scholar (King Hussein of Jordan Scholarship) is the fact that I have shown a nice cover production. I came here not knowing anything of video production, film production, and editing production. I was supposed to go to West Point and I changed my mind and came to Elon. Production was my interest and I came here willing to learn. I joined advanced production team and I was able (in my freshman year) to get my hands on the equipment, editing, and learn how to video shoot. And since then, I have been editing and found my passion. Over the years, I started off editing sports (Laith’s edited projects cover his interview). I worked on Touchdown Football and Phoenix Weekly shows. Laith expressed how he developed his editing style with sports and emotions. He spoke of leading the video crews for a year and a half with 300 video student crews. This occurred because of the changes within Elon Television. Laith spoke of the videos he shot and edited for Elon University. He spoke of his highlights in editing working on Project Pericles. Laith worked on graphics. He was selected to produce, video shot, and edit for the Arab Children’s Congress. Laith is an alumni of the Arab Children’s Congress. He thanked Elon for the scholarship (In addition, Laith was an Isabella Cannon Leadership Fellow and Elon Ambassador).
