This video, titled Elon Campaign Victory News2 coverage, was an off-air recording in 1994. The North Carolina State Advisory Budget Commission met at Elon College to discuss the 1995 budget. The state’s independent colleges wanted to increase state tuition grants to students who attend private colleges. The video piece was produced by Dave Wright of local News2 (WFMY), Greensboro, North Carolina. In the video piece, J. Fred Young, President of Elon College, showed Elon’s campus to the North Carolina Budget Commissioners. Young reminded the commissioners that it costs the state $6,000.00 more to send a student to a state university than it does to make a tuition grant to the private system. Visuals of Alumni Gym were seen for the Elon’s Celebration Victory Dinner. The Victory Celebration raised $21 million in private donations. Young stated that Elon had incorporated a totally new academic curriculum and completed a successful fundraising campaign to provide funds for two new buildings. In addition, he boasted that Elon College has enrolled the largest and most academically-talented student body in Elon’s history. The new Moseley Center was designed for Elon’s student organizations. Elon College junior, John Keegan, was interviewed for the news piece. Keegan spoke of how students enjoy the fireplace in Moseley Center. He also spoke of the reasons why he enrolled in Elon College. In closing, Wright (News2 reporter) spoke of the Elon College student-to-faculty ratio in his closing stand-up. A name included: Sandra Hughes.
