This video, titled Commitment to Diversity, Inclusion, and Global Engagement, occurred in Snow Family Grand Atrium inside Dwight C. Schar Hall, School of Communications, with President Connie Ledoux Book and the Student Government Association (SGA) President Kenneth Brown in the spring of 2018. Both President Book and Brown introduced themselves with their titles. “I am Connie Ledoux Book, President of Elon University,” stated Book. “And I am Kenneth Brown, President of Elon’s Student Government Association,” stated Brown.  Book continued, “At Elon, we know living and working in the 21st Century demands global competences, including an ability to appreciate and navigate vast array of language, culture, and points of view. Elon University’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, and global engagement is an important aspect of our mission.” Brown stated, “Elon’s mission is to foster respect for human differences and to prepare students to be global citizens. And to form leaders motivated by concern for the common good. The course that you are about to take is one way we work to fulfill that mission.” Book stated, “Each of us directly impacts the climate on campus. And each of us is responsible for creating a climate that reflects our shared values of inclusion and global citizenship.” Brown said, “This course is only a start, but we hope you will use it as a building block as a dialogue, conversation, and engaging.” Book continued, “Thank you for your time and attention. As we begin a conversation that will continue across campus throughout your time at Elon.”
