Built in 1913, the Young Ladies’ Cooperative Hall (usually known as Ladies’ Hall) was a two-story brick building with a one-story annex attached to the back and a basement that ran under the entire structure. The building was architecturally similar to West Dormitory and was also ornamented by a two-story porch that ran across the entire length of its front. The Ladies’ Hall contained dorm rooms, dining and laundry facilities for sixty-four females who were supervised by a matron. The living expenses were less expensive for occupants because they helped with cleaning, laundry, washing dishes and serving meals. The first floor was used as an infirmary in 1957 and the remaining rooms were converted into faculty offices and headquarters for the Southern Convention of Congregational Christian Churches. In 1960, the Young Ladies’ Cooperative Hall was too dilapidated for repairs and was then demolished. Sloan Dormitory now stands on the site of the former Young Ladies’ Cooperative Hall.
