A Service and Learning Typology examines the differences between how service-learning is typed. Sigmon explains that service-LEARNING focuses primarily on learning with service as a secondary outcome, SERVICE-learning focuses on service with learning as a secondary outcome, service learning which keeps the service and learning goals completely separate, and lastly SERVICE-LEARNING which has goals of equal weight and each enhances the other for all participants.
