The Koury Athletic Center is located on the corner of East Haggard Avenue and North Williamson Avenue on Elon University’s Campus in Elon, North Carolina. In October 1991, the trustees approved plans to renovate and expand Alumni and Jordan Gyms and to build a fitness center. The gyms were connected by a two-story sky lighted concourse. In addition to the fitness center, new classrooms and offices were also added during construction. Today, the center includes Alumni Gym, Stewart Fitness Center, Beck Pool, Jordan Gym, Racquetball courts, offices, locker rooms, training facilities, and academic department offices. The Beck Pool was made possible by a donation of $50,000 from the Belk-Beck group of department stores. There have been several renovations to the pool since it was constructed, including putting glass covers over lights, updating the chemical system, and replacing the brick walls surrounding the pool. Additionally, the Koury Center has also received renovations, with the addition of two dance studios, an expansion of the fitness center and an athletic training facility, which was completed in fall of 2002.
