Elon’s multicultural center, named the Center for Race, Ethnicity & Diversity Education (CREDE), is located inside the Moseley building (2nd floor) on Elon’s campus in Elon, North Carolina. CREDE was formerly known as the multicultural center, and is not only a physical space but also the center of support for students of different races. CREDE was started in 1992 by a group of concerned students and in 1993 it was known as the Office of Minority Affairs. In 1994, the African American Resource Room was moved to the Moseley center, and in 2002 it expanded its mission to serve an increasingly diverse student body. The programs offered fell into three categories: mentoring and support for students of diverse populations, multicultural education, and scholarship programs. In 2014, El Centro de Espanol merged with the Multicultural center to further organize efforts for underrepresented racial and ethnic communities and the name was changed to the CREDE.
