The Gerald L. Francis Center was opened in 2012 after Elon bought a 150,000 square foot facility on East Haggard Aveneue east of the Danieley Center in 2010. The building had previously been owned by Smithfield Foods. The Center houses the School of Health Sciences including the anatomical gift program, physical therapy education and physician assistant studies. The building is named after Gerald L. Francis, Elon’s executive Vice President and former provost. Grants from the Duke Endowment, the Alamance Regional Medical Center, Moses Cone Healthy System, and the Cannon Foundation of Concord helped fund the renovations in the Center and the costs of starting a new program.
