Colclough, Chandler, and Maynard halls were originally three residence halls that were a part of the Story complex located in what is currently the Global neighborhood. These residence halls opened in 1982 and were four-to-five student apartments. Maynard Hall was named for Reid and Grace Maynard who were long time supporters of Elon. Reid Maynard served on the Board of Trustees for over 34 years. Colclough Hall was named in memory of George D. Colclough who was a 1926 Elon alumnus and Burlington business leader. Chandler Hall was named after Wallace L. Chandler, a 1949 Elon alumnus who was the senior vice president and director of Universal Leaf Tobacco Company. These three residence halls were demolished in 2011 in order to make room for the Global neighborhood. The names were then transferred to three different residence halls in Danieley neighborhood which were constructed in 2002.
