The Jordan Center was located off of North Williamson Avenue on Elon University’s Campus in Elon, North Carolina. The Jordan Center was completed in two phases in 1980 and 1984. The Jordan Center quickly became a popular residential area; students established a tradition of lavishly decorating their residence halls at Christmas. In the first phase of construction, the rooms were much smaller units, which housed two students each but were built to be single units. They were air-conditioned, making them ideal for summer use. Intended as a short-term construction; the complex was demolished before the construction of the new Oaks residence complex that opened in 2006 on the same site.
