The Whitley Auditorium was renovated in September of 2000. The restoration was completed with the addition of the pipe organ made by Casavant Brothers of St. Hyacinthe, Quebec. It has more than 2,500 pipes ranging from six inches to thirty-two feet. The organ was a gift from J. Harold and Peggy Smith family of Burlington in honor of Smith’s sister Alyse Smith Cooper. Marilyn Keiser, professor of organ at Indiana University, performed the dedication recital in October 2001. Since then, there have been concerts by the Elon Chamber Orchestra and others.
