McEwen Dining Hall is located off of North Williamson Avenue next to Sloan Hall and the McEwen Communications Building on Elon University’s Campus in Elon, North Carolina. Today, McEwen Dining hall houses a cafeteria-style dining hall along with The Varsity Sports Grill and Chick-Fil-A. McEwen Dining Hall is named in honor of James H. McEwen, a Burlington industrialist and civic leader. When McEwen first opened in 1956, the dining room on the first floor seated five hundred. There was a banquet room on the second floor, which was home to Homecoming, Valentines, and May Day dances. Currently, McEwen Dining Hall is under the process of planning renovations, scheduled to begin following the completion of the School of Communications. These renovations are projected to be completed by the end of 2017.
