Newsome Field, located in Latham Park, adjacent to North Williamson Avenue and Phoenix Drive on Elon University’s campus in Elon, North Carolina. The field is named in honor of Webb Newsome, class of ’37, and his wife Jessie. While at Elon, Webb stared in football, baseball, and boxing. The Newsome Field was dedicated on April 29, 1978, and featured brick dugouts and permanent seating for 300 spectators, prior to the construction of Latham Park.
