The Elder clock is a large clock that is just outside of Belk Library. It is a double-faced Howard Post Clock that was handcrafted in Medfield, Massachusetts. It’s a replica of town clocks, which were centerpieces in New England cities and towns. It was donated to Elon by Sandra and Tom Harper and Elizabeth Warder and Gail Harden in honor of Sandra’s, Elizabeth’s and Gail’s parents, W. Clifton and Elizabeth Elder. The Clock was dedicated on September 14, 1999.
