Moffitt Hall is located in the Colonnades neighborhood off of Dalton McMichael Drive on Elon University’s campus in Elon, North Carolina. Opened in 2007, Moffitt is one of five Colonnades dormitories. Formerly Colonnades B, this building was renamed Moffitt Hall in honor of Emmett L. Moffitt, Elon University’s third president, who served from 1905 to 1911. In 2011, the Colonnades neighborhood added a geothermal energy system, located underground on the commons between the buildings, which provides environmentally friendly heating and cooling for the residence halls. In addition, a solar hot water heater system was also installed for two of the residence halls.
