The Parthenon is an ancient temple atop the Athenian Acropolis dedicated to the Goddess Athena, built with Pentelic marble in the 5th century BCE. Iconic features of the Parthenon were statues, the Parthenon frieze, and pediments on the east and west ends. The Parthenon has undergone restoration efforts since 1975.
